Visiting the School

When attending an open day, prospective parents and pupils visit the school during a working day.
You will be able to visit classrooms, and our pupils will show you round and talk to you about their school. You will also have an opportunity to hear a talk by Mr Sadler, our Headteacher.

Our open days are held in September and are aimed at families looking for a school place for their child to start the following September, although increasingly we are welcoming parents of children currently in Year 5 at local primary schools.

How schools organise their open days, and how useful they are, varies enormously. We hope you will enjoy our programme, and take advantage of plenty of opportunities to talk to both staff and pupils.

The following tips may help you get the most from attending an open day:
  • Take your child with you – you need a child’s eye view as well as your own, and children will undoubtedly notice things parents miss.
  • Pay attention to the pupils themselves - do they seem happy and motivated? Do they speak positively about their teachers and school-life?
  • Don’t get too distracted by the details - try to get a ‘feel’ for the school atmosphere.
  • Feel free to ask questions if you want to, particularly of pupils: What do they think of the teaching? Do they enjoy life at the school?
  • Explore the extra-curricular activities offered. A wide range will demonstrate that the teachers are motivated and enthusiastic.
  • Find out about the lunch arrangements and visit the canteen. Remember - listen to your instincts, but don't base your decision on one teacher or one pupil.

We very much look forward to welcoming you at our open events which take place on the following dates:
Wednesday, 23rd September 2015 - Prospective Parents Evening (6:45pm – 9:00pm)
Tuesday, 29th September 2015 - Open Morning (9:15am - 10:45am)
Wednesday, 30th September 2015 - Open Morning (9:15am - 10.45am)

- Mr Sadler, our Headteacher, offers personal tours to small groups of parents on a Friday morning.
